 History of the Mangla Fort:

                             According to Frederick Drew, a British geographer and historian, Mangla Fort was constructed by King Taglu, who belonged to the Ghakhar tribe. The fort was built in the 12th century and continues to stand as a testament to its history even today  However, according to some local residents, the fort was constructed by a goddess named Mangla Devi. Yet, historians maintain that King Taglu was indeed the builder of this fort. Mangla Fort remains a significant mystery among the people, and it stands today as a prominent historical landmark and a wonder in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

                                 The region of Mangla Fort holds immense historical significance and the fort itself is a captivating sight for people. The Mangla area is known for this fort and its other historical places. Mangla Fort is one such local site renowned for its rich history. Situated right next to the Mangla Dam, it offers a unique and picturesque view. Built on a height, Mangla Fort is easily visible from a distance and invigorates the hearts of onlookers from afar.

                                                      Regarding its current condition, an earthquake struck Muzaffarabad Ajk  in **2025**, causing significant devastation. While **Mangla Fort** was also affected, it did not suffer extensive damage due to its exceptional strength. Its remarkable durability is a testament to its historical significance and robust construction. The fort remains largely intact, though some of its walls have deteriorated slightly. The government has developed a **parking area** and a beautiful **garden** at the site. The fort is also known for its lush greenery. Mangla Fort is not just an important part of history but also a wonder for the people.

Regarding permission to visit **Mangla Fort**, it is located within an army-controlled area. Therefore, if you wish to tour Mangla Fort, you will need to obtain **permission from the army**. Local residents also confirm that the general public is **not allowed** to visit without this prior authorization. You must seek permission from the army, and only then will you be granted entry.
